Bizzy Dizzy Lizzy

I have been busier than a one-legged man in a butt kickin' contest. And will be busy yet for the next couple of weeks. Loads of cool stuff planned!

Two weeks ago my lil sister and I went on a 'road trip' to our parental units who live in the most southern part of Holland.
We left early Saturday morning, making our way to our promised Americanish breakfast, complete with home made buttermilk pancakes, maple syrup and bacon.
After breakfast our (step)dad came up with the most excellent idea: visit Cologne (Keulen, Köln) in Germany. Since they live relatively close to Germany, and I have always wanted to see the Cologne Cathedral since I read the book "Crusade in Jeans" (Kruistocht in spijkerbroek, in this book a 15 year old boy gets sent back in time, to the year 1212. They were still busy building the cathedral then) we decided to go. And since there was a Dunkin Donuts nearby there, no further discussion was needed.

The aftermath.
So off to zee Germanzz we went. And I gotta say, Cologne rocks. And not just because of the Dunkin Donuts, and not because we got a huge discount there by accident, but because of this guy:

He was standing there with a potted plant, and a toy jet plane. He would pull the jet back, and let it roll over the ground a few inches, and then start over again. I don't know why he was doing that, and quite frankly I don't think he did either. It made my day.

And the Cathedral, omg, it was HUGE, and very, very beautiful. So glad I finally got to see it! Of course we walked around some, went into a few stores but ended up buying nothing. If you have time, and money, Cologne is a cool city to shop.

The next day my sis, mom and I decided to go for a little walk. Turned out to be a 4 hour walk. It was beautiful though we kinda got lost at one moment. We asked some other hikers which way was out, and they pointed us in the right direction. We then had a choice; either walk all the way around to get to the right path, or cross a field. We crossed the field, which turned out to probably be the WORST way to get where we wanted to be. I told my sister we were stuck in the eternal bog of stench, and I could've sworn the field was expanding while we were trying to cross it.
We had fun anyways, took great photo's and also learned a valuable lesson that could possibly save our lives some day: when mom says: 'Let's go left', go RIGHT!

Last weekend we celebrated my grandmothers 88th birthday. Every year she throws a party at this restaurant, which is located near the Rhine river.
And every year we acquire more photo's that in a perfect world would have been deleted immediately.

Have you heard, that your fingers grow?

"I think they're getting bigger..'

'Thumbelina is bye-bye!'

'FREAKS'

The Sister Trinity
It's also the only event left in the family where we get to see eachother. In the old days we used to get together at almost every birthday and holiday. Somehow we kinda outgrew it, maybe because we all live pretty far from eachother. Thanks to internet we are able to stay in touch. Something I think I really should work more on, cause what's gonna happen should grandma die?  (She is aware of the fact that she is not allowed to leave this life, ever). Will we not meet up anymore? I think I'll make this my New Years Resolution.

These things are on my agenda for the next couple of weeks:
  •  Most likely to go to the Efteling (amusent park I adore) this Thursday with my sister.
  • This weekend I am throwing a Twilight party, to kick off the countdown till Breaking Dawn Part 1 (and because of the hell of it).
  • 30th of November I'll be going to Amsterdam to meet & greet Kat von D (tattoo artist, loooove her).
  • Visiting the parental units yet again to put up their Christmas tree (tradition, I do it almost every year).
  •  Going to London for a weekend!!! My friend Jolanda called me and declared that I was going with her the 10th of December for the weekend. Her treat!
  • And then, it's gonna be a whole lot of pigging out on Christmas and New Years.

Somewhere in the middle of this all I'm going to try to find me a nice job, as long as it doesn't interfere with my social agenda. But then again, not having a job might interfere with my living arrangements... To be continued!

  1. Hey girl,

Hoe gaat het met jou? Love the blog!!!
