I can't say exactly when I developed my interest for Japanese culture, but I can sum up the reasons of why I am so intrigued!
* It may have started with an anime movie called 'Grave of the Fireflies' / 'Hotaru no haka'. This is a beautiful movie from 1988, and I can't remember being so touched, heartbroken and haunted by a movie than over this one, and it haunts me still. Any movie that can move me like that, is in my eyes a masterpiece. I strongly advise to not watch this movie alone, and have a box of tissues and chocolate at the ready.* Another thing I have grown to appreciate is Japanese fashion. Well it didn't really need to grow, it was just there:
If us semi-conservative Europeans (wait, did I just call myself European?) um, Westerners ever consider this to be acceptable fashion, I will be dressing like this. Every day.
* Sushi. Now this is not a very well known territory for me, since I have eaten it only once. My niece is an awesome little sushi chef, and I gotta say that I kinda liked it. I also think that for a 'pale face' like me, it's something that requires getting used to. Kinda like how I taught myself to like olives.
*Japanese art and tattoos. I have always been an art (and tattoo) fan, and I love the specific Japanese style. My favorite artist (I have found so far) is Yoh, for obvious reasons as you can tell:
I would like to wish all those affected by recent events the best of luck, and truly hope one day to have the honor in visiting the 'Land of the Rising Sun'.
Domo arigato and sore dewa! ^ ^
